Wiztrust opens New York office in expansion of Wiztrust Protect verification platform to combat fake financial news
NEW YORK, NY – Wiztrust today announced the opening of its New York City office to support the global expansion of Wiztrust Protect, its certification platform designed to prevent fake financial news.
Wiztrust Protect launched in early 2019 as an extension of Wiztrust, a software that empowers communications and investor relations teams at nearly 50 large financial services and publicly traded companies around the world. Wiztrust Protect was designed to address the growing problem of fake news in the corporate and financial world.
Over the past 10 years, top brands including Blackrock, Fitbit, Google, Pfizer, Samsung and Shell have been the victim of hacktivists and hackers who forged press releases and spoofed websites, seeking to profit from the resultant stock swings. These announcements drove inaccurate press coverage by prestigious outlets such as the Associated Press, Bloomberg, CNBC, Dow Jones Newswires, the Financial Times, Fox Business News and The Washington Post.
“Incidents of corporate fake news are increasing each year, and will only intensify with the rise of deepfake videos and falsified financial releases,” said co-founder Raphaël Labbé. “By opening an office on Wall Street, we’re better equipped to support the growing need for Wiztrust Protect in the U.S.”
Wiztrust Protect uses blockchain technology to generate a unique fingerprint for a content file, allowing companies to easily certify the announcements they distribute to press, investors and analysts. These target audiences can then verify the content’s authenticity in one drag and drop through Protect.Wiztrust.com.
In the past six months, 20 Wiztrust clients have implemented Wiztrust Protect to certify their corporate news, including Allianz, Air Liquide, Beneteau Group, Klepierre, Bouygues and Schneider Electric. These clients range in industry from financial services to insurance, pharmaceutical, real estate and utilities.
Recently Wiztrust's founders have briefed news outlets about corporate fake news incidents that drove inaccurate coverage and stock price activity. Many of these newsrooms now use the software to validate corporate news issued by Wiztrust clients.
If you’d like to schedule a briefing for your newsroom regarding corporate fake news, please contact Gwen Waldron for Wiztrust at 646-359-4466.
Wiztrust Protect was created by Wiztrust, the publisher of a platform solution for communications teams of financial and publicly listed companies. With Wiztrust, companies can manage, distribute and measure the performance of their content. With Wiztrust Protect they can now protect their content and shareholders interest.
